Vasanthi Iyer is the founder and artistic director of VeenaGana school of music in Chicago USA. She has been teaching Carnatic Vocal and Veena since 1990. She holds a Masters degree in Sanskrit and is the recipient of Sahitya Gold medal award for securing top rank at Bangalore university.She also studied towards an Associates degree in computer science in Chicago and worked as a programmer analyst for over 10 years.

Vasanthi Iyer has a keen passion for Carnatic music and has learned from several esteemed teachers like Sri . M. Prabhakar, Smt.V.Vijayalakshmi, Smt. Shaila Subrahmaniam and Smt.Neela Ramgopal on vocals and from Smt. E.P.Alamelu and Sri K.S.Narayanaswamy on veena.

She has learned for over 15 to 20 years on both Veena and Vocal. Mrs. Vasanthi Iyer has been teaching music since 1990 in the Chicagoland area. She has performed extensively for Bharatanatyam arangetrams and given solo concerts on both Veena and Vocal. She is a highly sought after and motivated teacher.
